April 2005 - Present: President of Leadership Initiatives, Inc. Provide training in areas of leadership, group dynamics, and team building through lecture and experiential methods. Provide motivational speaking and group facilitation. Facilitate strategic planning.

March 2005: Consultant. Chemonics, Inc. Worked with the Jordanian Securities Commission and USAID (AMIR project) to provide a seminar on Financial Management for local municipalities in the Kingdom of Jordan. The seminar covered the municipal bond market and budgeting best practices.

November 2003 - April 2005: Individual Proprietor. Provided training in areas of leadership, group dynamics, and team building through lecture and experiential methods. Provided motivational speaking and group facilitation. Facilitated strategic planning.

January 1994 - November 2003: Deputy County Manager for New Hanover County (population 160,000) Wilmington, North Carolina. Responsible for overseeing Departments of Budget, Property Management, Register of Deeds, Information Technology, Finance, Juvenile Day Reporting Center, Public Safety Communications Center, and Tax Administration. Board member for Criminal Justice Partnership Program, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, and Sentencing Services Program. County Manager's Representative on major capital projects: Judicial Building, Jail, Parking Deck, and Library. Served as Manager in the absence of the County Manager.

November 1979 - January 1994: Finance Director for New Hanover County, Wilmington, North Carolina. Directed all financial operations. Managed operating and capital budgets in excess of $150,000,000 annually. Responsibilities included management of Departments of Finance, Water and Sewer Finance, and Tax Administration.

October 1978 - October 1979: Accountant, North Carolina Department of the State Treasurer, Local Government Commission, Raleigh, North Carolina. Reviewed and evaluated annual financial statements, prepared official statements for bond sales, and wrote accounting policies and procedures for local governmental units.

May 1975 - September 1978: Staff Accountant, Jack M. Stancil and Company, Certified Public Accountants, Raleigh, North Carolina. Responsibilities included preparation of corporate and individual income tax returns, monthly client write-up work, auditing client records, and preparation of financial statements.

September 1973 - August 1974: Federal Bank Examiner, United States Department of Treasury, Raleigh, North Carolina. Audited national banks. Reviewed loan portfolios to determine strength and liquidity of banks. Reviewed internal accounting controls.
